Our skin is made of three layers, the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis and is there to protect us from infection and the environment and to shape the body. We see the surface layer of the epidermis, called the stratum corneum, which is made up of microbiome, the acid mantle, lipids and dead skin cells. Despite the chaos of 2020, it taught me a couple of things. Firstly, it taught me self care. That I must look after myself before I can look after others.
